Nancy O'Dell started her career in broadcasting by working as a reporter at WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. In the following years, she worked as a the morning news anchor as well as a the crime reporter at WCBD TV. The stories she reported in Charleston about the police's leniency when it comes to DUI cases prompted a State Law Enforcement Division to examine. This led to the state government imposing more stringent guidelines in these cases. According to the Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell with her Best Report of the year Award to all South Carolina media. In the years following her stay living in Charleston, O'Dell worked as an anchor co-host for NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV as well as an investigative reporter.
